Accomplice by Eireann Corrigan Review

"They've gotten good grades - but that's not good enough. They've spent hours on community service - but that's not good enough. Finn and Chloe's advisor says that colleges have enough kids with good grades and perfect attendance, so Chloe decides they'll have to attract attention another way. She and Finn will stage Chloe's disappearance, and then, when CNN is on their doorstep and the nation is riveted, Finn will find and save her. It seems like the perfect plan - until things start to go wrong. Very wrong."

Hmm... The main lesson I learn from this book is: Never, ever, ever fake a kidnapping/disappearance to get the attentions of colleges.

Second Lesson: In your fake kidnapping/disappearance plan, never involve innocent people because they can be indirectly hurt by your friend's "disappearance."

Accomplice is a emotional rollercoaster for Finn. She is torn between right or wrong and Chloe or the person of interest. It's her choice. Who will be the downfall of the fake kidnapping? Chloe, Finn, or the person Chloe framed. It's all in her hands. It's her choice between her best friend and the innocent person caught between the conspiracy.

It all started off as a crazy idea/a jest, as all conspiracy always start off as. Chloe and Finn used to joke  about it, especially when Chloe attended a seminar of a kidnapped victim who was discovered recently. The idea was pushed further when a counselor told them that a 4.0 GPA, volunteering, good grades, good classes, and sports weren't enough to get into colleges and universities like the Ivy Leagues or something as prestigious as that.

The plot was stunning and twisty. With hidden secrets and evil/thoughtless games and lies, the girls slip deeper and deeper into trouble. Set into the modern time, the police hunts for Chloe's "disappearance" and "abductors," while Finn has to escape the clutches and suspecting glances from the police. The writing of Eireann Corrigan has sucked me in from the first page to the very last sentence of the final page.

Finn, as said before, is torn between loyalty to her best friend, Chloe, and the innocent stuttering suspect. She's the accomplice in the disappearance of Chloe, who disappeared into Finn's relative's basement. Smart, yet also ignorant, she works to find the solution to the kidnapping/disappearance and uncovers the ingenious hidden trail of Chloe's deception and false trail.

Chloe is the little lost lamb and victim, or at least according to the police. She's the cunning and brilliant mastermind behind the entire scheme. With false trails, fake footprints, and cold lies, Chloe uses everything she has at her dispose, all for a chance at a good/respected university/college. Including her best friend, Finn, and the dazzled, by her beauty/personality, lovesick boy.
